Issues Raised by Media Ownership

  • the issues raised by media ownership and funding in contemporary media practice

- Some issues with media ownership is how the content of your media can be stolen and reused somewhere else. Many websites reuse information that is taken from other places. Also, since many people write a bunch of things, more popular industries dominate the charts and leave the small-time people behind. Even if it seems as though you media might be more important or beneficial to a person, they would probably still rather pick a more famous source of media. If your media is too small and is not being consumed or profited, then there is bound to be no money being made. The funding could be more costly for someone who is not making a lot of money or is being viewed constantly. Another issue is that if your content is not relevant to what is "trending" now, then a lot of people might not read it because it most likely will not interest them. An important part to media ownership is giving information that is relevant nowadays or can be seen as useful no matter what and sticks out.
